The HCG Diet: Outlining Your Meal Plan
The HCG diet combines the hCG drops with a strict 500 calorie meal plan. The hCG supplement aids the body in weight loss by signaling to the brain to burn excess fat stored within the body. The diet consists of four phases. It is important to follow the protocol carefully to achieve the best results.
*Do not follow a 500 calorie diet without taking hCG drops. This practice is extremely dangerous and would not stimulate weight loss, it would in fact force your metabolism into starvation mode resulting in no weight loss*
Phase 1: The Loading Phase (2 Days)
It is recommended that you perform a cleanse before beginning the HCG diet. While it is not required, it rids your body of toxins and allows your metabolism to work at its maximum potential. You should then begin taking the hCG drops by placing 10-12 drops under your tongue and then holding them there for 60 seconds. You can swallow the remaining liquid. Make sure you do not eat or drink anything 10 minutes before or after taking the drops. Repeat these steps 3 times a day.
During this phase you will also want to focus on consuming high-fat and high-calorie foods because it will help the hCG to absorb into your system more efficiently. This fat will also be used during Phase 2 and 3 in the diet.
Phase 2: The Maintenance Phase (21-40 days)
Now that your body has begun to absorb the HCG while eating high-fat and high-calorie foods, you will move on to the 500 calorie diet. You will of course continue to take your hCG drops as recommended. You are expected to lose ½ to 3 pounds a day, so how long you will stick to this phase depends on your weight loss goal.
- If you are hoping to lose 15-20 pounds, stay on the 500 calorie diet for 21 days
- If you need to lose more than 20 pounds, stay on the 500 calorie for 40 days
- If you have more weight you would like to lose after 40 days, you should take a break from the diet for about 3 weeks and then resume starting with phase 1
*Note: If you are taking the hCG drops for 6 weeks, your body may develop tolerance of the drops, hindering their effectiveness. We recommend you consume the diet drops for 6 days out of the week. If during day 7 you feel hungry, try our all-natural Hoodoba diet pills, which will aid in eliminating your appetite. (link Hoodoba)
While on the hCG diet, the plan is to stick to healthy, wholesome foods. These choices will not simply aid weight loss but will help in the reprogramming of your brain and how it controls your calorie intake.
For protein, make sure you only consume 100 grams at a time. You will be able to have these 100 gram servings twice a day. Options for protein include: chicken breast, steak, crab, lobster, shrimp, veal, extra lean ground beef and white fish.
Vegetarian Protein Replacements:
If you are a vegetarian, consume 8 ounces of milk, ½ cup of cottage cheese or ½ cup of non-fat plain yogurt to serve as your protein for the day.
*Remember: you must completely rid your diet of ANY fat or sugar. So that means eliminating fat for cooking. Stay away from fat and sugar when prepping your meals. Also, it is important to choose different proteins for lunch and dinner (do not eat the same protein for both meals).
For vegetables, you will have two servings a day. Each serving should be about 2 cups of green salad, ½ cup of cabbage, 1 cup cucumber, 1 cup tomato or 1 cup onion. Here are some other options (but keep the servings roughly to these measurements): spinach, red radishes, celery, fennel, asparagus, chicory, chard and beet greens.
For grains, you may have two servings each day. Stick to whole grain! 1 slice of whole grain toast or a whole grain English muffin. Make sure to keep these portions small and made of whole grains.
For fruit, you can have two servings a day. A fruit portion should be 1 orange, a handful of strawberries, ½ grapefruit and any other fruit in small quantity. It is good to note that grapefruit is known to eliminate cravings extremely well, so make sure to incorporate this fruit into your plan.
Beverages are unlimited. It is best to consume at least 2 liters a day. Drink options are black coffee (no sweetener or cream!), plain tea, water (preferably distilled), sparkling water, etc. You may use stevia as a sweetener, but that’s it! Nothing else!
For spices and seasoning of each dish to add flavor, just make sure you are staying away from spices with sugar. Always check ingredients! Make sure nothing that is restricted is hidden in the ingredients.
*You are allowed to chew gum while on the diet if it is made with xylitol (again always check ingredients!)
Phase 3: The Stabilization Phase (21 days)
This phase is when you conclude taking the hcg drops (depending on your weight loss goal and duration of 500 calorie diet). You will be able to increase your calorie intake but still avoid sugar, fat and starch. Add foods back into your diet slowly, remembering your body has gotten used to a certain diet and will need time to readjust. You also want to monitor your body’s reaction to foods as you introduce them.
Phase 4: The Preservation Phase
Now that you’ve achieved your goal and are ecstatic about your weight loss, you want to keep it off! This feat is not as difficult as it may sound – just make sure you remain healthy in your food choices. Use the 500 calorie protocol as a guideline (without sticking to the strict 500 calories a day) to only put healthy, wholesome, nourishing foods into your body! If you notice any weight gain (you should weigh yourself every morning to make sure you are track) have a steak day. For one day, do not eat or drink anything through the day, drink water, and for dinner have a large steak or other form of protein, adding tomatoes or some fruit. Weigh yourself to ensure your weight is back down after the steak day.
After the hcg diet you should expect some pretty big changes. You will feel healthier and mentally and physically recharged. Continue with these healthier eating habits and maintain your new lifestyle to the best of your ability. Some of your favorite foods and junk food will probably not taste the same to you and you won’t crave them as much! This is a good sign because it means your body no longer processes and digests them the same way it used to. So, maintain and happy and healthy body while looking great and sticking to nutritious foods and enjoy your new self!
